Sage ZXL 4 piece Fly Rod *NEW FOR 2008 from The Rivers Edge
The new ZXL rods are significantly lighter, stronger and easier to cast for everyone who enjoys the relaxed casting rhythm of a smooth progressive taper. Through the miracle of our G5 process, we were able to remove every gram of unnecessary material from each blank and replace traditional glass hoop fibers with lighter, more responsive graphite. Shop Review: The ZXL is one of the greatest dry fly rods we’ve seen in years. It is truly a presentation rod reminiscent of Sage’s old Light Line series. The folks at Sage have combined new technology with a traditional casting action to raise the standards for presentation fly rods. In smaller sizes this rod is perfect for spring creeks and small streams, while the larger sizes make great all around fishing rods. A five weight would be ideal for an evening of caddis fishing on the Madison. When choosing a fly line to match the ZXL, we’d recommend a less aggressive taper to compliment the rod’s action. Rio’s Selective Trout Line and Scientific Angler’s Trout Line are both excellent choices for accurate and delicate presentations.
